NORTH WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. — Firefighters and hazardous materials crews were called to the scene of a tractor trailer fire on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike late Monday night.

It happened a little after 11:00 in the northbound lanes, near mile marker 61, in North Whitehall Township, Lehigh County.

Officials said firefighters called the HazMat crew to the scene around 1:00 Tuesday morning after putting out the fire and noticing a white powder on the road.

Crews have not been able to determine what the white powder was.

Officials said the driver of the truck was not hurt.

Traffic was able to get by the scene in both directions.
