A freight train derailment in northeast Ohio has prompted authorities to evacuate a neighborhood within 500 feet as a precaution as crews checked for any chemical leak.

Trumbull County Emergency Management Agency Director Linda Beil says no injuries were reported in the derailment Monday morning in Newton Falls, about 20 miles northwest of Youngstown.

Beil says no chemical leak was immediately confirmed as 12 of 111 CSX cars derailed.

A message seeking comment was left at CSX offices.

The Warren Tribune Chronicle says the derailment may have damaged a building where a rail crew was scheduled to work Monday.
